Spel, I was just thinking of you so I spaced you and found you. So excited but also sad. I wish things were different for you as I hoped when I found you on the internet. I knew you would be doing something with art as you are. High school was so much fun. I knew the minute I saw you I wanted to know you. To me you were just the coolest guy in South Philly High. Life Magazine
What's good Spel?
I read your article in Life Magazine and thought that I would drop you a line.
I can relate to the dirty lifestyle of the graffiti subculture in philly and how
difficult it is to get out. I also want to take this gift and use it toward something
more positive than just writing. After 5 long years of forcing myself through school
I am now an Art Director for a major publication. Although, I spent many hours
molding my craft as a graff artist it has lead me to something good in life. I have
sat back and seen some of the most talented kid either die from drugs or beef
while having some of the most raw talent that I have ever seen.

i just saw your artwork in the rawvision magazine. i'm over in australia and picked up a copy at borders, so word of your story has spread all over the world. i'm impressed with the high quality of your work. i'm am also an artist and find alot of inspiration in african masks and totemic sculptures, which you seem to draw upon in your work. keep up the creativity.

Spel, It was really an honor to connect with you at the conference. I was inspired not only by your work but your energy as well. I was the one who asked you "what goes on in your head" when you express yourself on canvas. Although I have never been incarcerated or inside of a prison, I have often felt prisoner to circumstances in my past. It was ironic that once I experienced your artwork I developed a better understanding of what true freedom really is. As an artist myself, I can only hope to one day experience the type of freedom that you already have. I wish you all the best in your journey.
